On April 19, delegates of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the election of the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

According to the Mejlis's website, the election took place during the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul.

As a result of the vote, Ms. Anda Cristina Filip, the candidate from Romania, was elected as the new Secretary-General of the Organization.

The participation of the Turkmen Parliamentary delegation in these elections was further evidence of the country's active participation in democratic and legislative activities at the international level, the source notes.
