The twelfth session of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan's seventh convocation took place on April 11, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
Representatives of several ministries and agencies, as well as media outlets, were among the invited participants.
The meeting reviewed and adopted a number of draft laws aimed at modernizing the country's legal framework and promoting its intensive socio-economic development.
Among the first drafts submitted for consideration by deputies was a draft Mejlis Resolution "On the Recognition of the Authority of Deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Elected in Individual Electoral Districts."
Also at the meeting, draft Resolutions of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan “On Amending the Resolution of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan “On the Composition of the Committees of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan” and “On the Chairman of the Committee of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms” were adopted.
Next, the Mejlis deputies reviewed the draft Law of Turkmenistan "On Amendments and Additions to the Code of Turkmenistan on Administrative Offenses." The amendments concern, in particular, strengthening established administrative liability for certain administrative offenses.
Deputies also reviewed draft laws of Turkmenistan: "On Amendments to the Law of Turkmenistan 'On Industrial Safety of Hazardous Industrial Facilities,'" "On Amendments and Additions to the Law of Turkmenistan 'On Accounting and Financial Reporting,'" and "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Turkmenistan." These draft laws modernize a number of terms used in certain articles of existing laws.
Deputies also discussed the draft Law of Turkmenistan "On Amendments and Supplements to the Law of Turkmenistan 'On Fisheries and Conservation of Aquatic Biological Resources.'" It clarified and improved the content of certain terms and concepts used in the Law. Adoption of this Law will have a significant impact on the conservation of our country's aquatic biological resources.
The meeting also considered the draft Law "On Amendments and Supplements to the Law of Turkmenistan "On Migration," which modernizes the regulations related to registration, extension of registration, and deregistration of foreign citizens and stateless persons, according to which these operations are carried out electronically in the information system of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan.
The Law "On the Ombudsman" requires the Ombudsman to address the Mejlis deputies annually. In this regard, a report by the Commissioner for Human Rights in Turkmenistan – Ombudsman Ya. Gurbannazarova – was submitted to the deputies for consideration.
The draft laws and resolutions submitted for consideration at the regular meeting of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the seventh convocation were unanimously approved and adopted.
