Economic development indicators for Turkmenistan's eastern region for the past three months have been announced

At an off-site meeting of the Government of Turkmenistan, which took place on April 10 in the Lebap velayat, Deputy Prime Minister H. Geldimyradov reported on the measures taken in January-March for the socio-economic development of the eastern region of the country.

According to the report, compared to the same period last year, industrial production in the region increased by 0,2 percent; production of bread and bakery products – 0,8 percent; flour – 13,9 percent; vegetable products – 28,9 percent; fruits and vegetables – 8,8 percent; milk – 3,1 percent; eggs – 2,4 percent; canned fruits and vegetables – 2,1 percent.

The growth rate of freight turnover across all modes of transport in the region was 3,9 percent, while passenger turnover was 0,6 percent.

Retail turnover increased by 11,3 percent compared to the same period last year.

Over the first three months, the local budget's revenue plan was fulfilled by 113,4 percent, while its expenditure plan was fulfilled by 98,8 percent.

Within the framework of the National Rural Program, construction of 20 social infrastructure buildings, 7 water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities, 4,5 thousand square meters of housing, engineering systems, and facilities continued in the region during the period under review.

In the first quarter of this year, the regional bank branches' revenue plan was fulfilled by 124 percent.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of consistent efforts to achieve socioeconomic development and significantly improve the standard of living of the country's citizens, including in the Lebap velayat, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
