The third phase of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway has opened in Turkmenistan

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov opened the third phase of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway, according to the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.

The commissioning of the Mary-Turkmenabat section marks the completion of the entire 600-kilometer highway. The highway will increase the speed of freight and passenger travel between the capital and the country's eastern regions.

The roadway is 34,5 meters wide with three lanes in each direction. Amenities along the route include cafes, gas stations, parking lots, and maintenance facilities. Protective netting has been installed to prevent animals from entering the road, and special underpasses have been built to ensure their safe passage.

The commissioning of the highway is crucial for the development of the national transport and logistics system and strengthening Turkmenistan's transit potential. The Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway was built within the framework of the revival of the historic Great Silk Road.
