Turkmen boxer Dovlet Islamov won bronze at the Asian Championships in Ulaanbaatar

Turkmen boxer Dovlet Islamov won bronze at the 2026 Asian Boxing Championships, which are taking place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The Asian Championships, sponsored by World Boxing, are being held from March 30 to April 10. The tournament features 194 athletes from across the continent (115 men and 79 women), competing for medals in 20 weight categories.

In the semifinal, Islamov lost to Kazakhstan's Aibek Oralbay with a score of 0:5.

After the fight, Oralbay noted that he knew his opponent well. "We held a joint training camp in Shymkent, where he trained and sparred with us. He's in good shape; he boxed better today than in sparring because he studied and prepared. There are no weak opponents here – everyone is strong," the Kazakhstani boxer said.

In the final match, Oralbay will face Chinese representative Danabek Baikonys, who defeated Indian Narender by technical decision with a score of 4:1 in his semi-final.
