A Turkmen designer will showcase clothing made from recycled materials at the international eco-forum in Astana

Turkmen designer Leyli Khaidova will be one of the participants in the first international eco-fashion show, Green Runway Fashion Show, which will take place on April 23 in Astana as part of the international exhibition of environmental technologies RES 2026 EXPO.

The show will bring together leading designers from Central Asia and Azerbaijan. In addition to the representative from Turkmenistan, the event will feature Tatyana Vorotnikova (Kyrgyzstan), Gulnara Khalilova (Azerbaijan), Elena Ladik (Uzbekistan), Khurshed Satorov and Nafisa Imranova (Tajikistan), and Aidarkhan Kaliyev (Kazakhstan).

Each designer will present collections of 10-12 looks in three conceptual directions: Eco-Heritage (reimagining traditional costumes using natural fabrics and dyes), Upcycling & Recycling (clothing made from recycled materials), and Bio-Design (natural prints and images of rare plant species, including those listed in the Red Book).

A distinctive feature of the show will be its scenography, featuring live plants and natural elements, creating the effect of a "living space." The organizers position the event as a platform for dialogue between designers, environmentalists, investors, and government officials.

RES 2026 EXPO will be held from April 22 to 24 in Astana. Around 300 companies from 30 countries and over 20,000 visitors are expected to participate. The exhibition is being held as part of the Regional Environmental Summit, initiated by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in 2023.
