Turkmenistan will continue work on establishing the Turkmen-Russian University

Turkmenistan will continue to implement joint humanitarian projects with Russia, including work on establishing a Turkmen-Russian University. This was announced by National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during a telephone conversation with Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko.

"The Turkmen side will continue to work on implementing joint humanitarian projects, such as the establishment of the Turkmen-Russian University and the design and construction of a new building for the A.S. Pushkin Theater in Ashgabat," the State News Agency of Turkmenistan quotes the National Leader as saying.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also noted Russia's careful attitude toward promoting the Turkmen language, literature, and art, and confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to advance the bilateral cultural and humanitarian agenda—the study of the Turkmen and Russian languages, the preservation of cultural heritage, and the creation of favorable conditions for the expression of the distinctiveness and traditions of both peoples.
