National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a telephone conversation with Valentina Matviyenko, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.

During the conversation, the National Leader, on his own behalf and on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, congratulated the speaker of the upper house of the Russian parliament on her birthday, wishing her good health, happiness, and success in her government, political, and international activities.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov praised Matviyenko's personal contribution to strengthening Turkmen-Russian friendship and developing bilateral cooperation, noting that she is widely respected in Turkmenistan as an outstanding statesman and long-standing friend of the country.

During the conversation, Matviyenko's active international work aimed at strengthening peace, ensuring sustainable development, and advancing pressing issues on the global agenda was also noted. Her role in developing interparliamentary dialogue, expanding humanitarian ties, and the international women's movement was particularly emphasized.

Matviyenko, in turn, thanked them for their congratulations and expressed recognition of the National Leader's contribution to further strengthening the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries based on mutual respect.
