Silkworm breeding has begun in eastern Turkmenistan

Silkworm farming has begun in the Lebap velayat. This year, the region plans to produce 1 010 tons of high-quality silkworms.

Silk farmers in the Koytendag, Dovletly, Kerki, and Halach etraps were the first to begin work, according to Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

This season, silkworm farmers in Koytendag plan to harvest 38 tons of cocoons from 1042 boxes of sericulture cocoons, while Dovletli expects to harvest 46 tons from 1259 boxes. Kerki and Halacha have pledged to produce 85 and 97 tons of raw material, respectively.

In the remaining districts of the velayat, sericulture cocoons have already been placed in incubators, and local farms will soon begin actively cultivating this valuable crop.

Regular consultations with specialized specialists who monitor caterpillar conditions are designed to ensure the industry operates efficiently and guarantees the fulfillment of harvest plans, the source notes.
