A ring-tailed lemur named Stumpy has become a new record holder, entering the Guinness World Records as the oldest lemur living in captivity, naked-science.ru reports.
The unique long-liver recently celebrated its 39th birthday, which is twice the average lifespan of its relatives.
Stumpy was born on June 15, 1986 and now lives at Five Sisters Zoo in West Lothian, Scotland. While the average lifespan of a ring-tailed lemur in captivity is 20-25 years, this amazing primate continues to be in great shape, impressing experts with his resilience.
According to the zoo staff, there is no exact answer to this question yet. However, the keepers note the special habits of their charge: Stumpy loves to sunbathe, and his favorite treats are fresh willow shoots and sweet potatoes.
