Head coach of the Turkmenistan national football team Rovshan Meredov announced the team's intention to advance from the group and qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup. He announced this at a press conference on the eve of the qualifying match against the Thai team.
“We have ambitious plans: to get out of the group and get into the Asian Cup,” the coach of the Turkmen team emphasized.
Meredov noted that the successes of the country's club teams and youth teams in the international arena create a favorable basis for the development of national football. According to him, the Football Federation of Turkmenistan is making every effort to create a solid foundation for the development of football in the country.
Speaking about the upcoming match, the head coach acknowledged a certain amount of excitement, but linked it to a sense of responsibility to the team and fans. "Excitement is a burden of responsibility," Meredov explained.
The specialist also commented on the limited time to prepare for the match against Thailand. "I have worked with many players before, I know their potential, their capabilities. We are satisfied with the information, the preparation that we have planned for this short period. I will not consider this an excuse in advance. In any case, this is the very concept of the work of the head coach of the national team - he always has limited time, contact time with the players. The match between the national teams of Turkmenistan and Thailand will take place on June 10 at the Ashgabat stadium. The game is scheduled to start at 20:00. Entrance to the match is free for everyone.
