National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed condolences in a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in connection with the explosion in the port of Bandar Abbas, TDH reports.
“At the beginning of the conversation, respected Arkadag, on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan and on his own behalf, expressed words of deep sympathy and support to the people of Iran in connection with the explosion in the port of Bandar Abbas,” the statement said.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan, as a close neighbor of Iran, is ready to provide medical and all other necessary assistance to people affected by the explosion.
In turn, Masoud Pezeshkian expressed gratitude and emphasized that the National Leader of the Turkmen people, as befits good neighbors, was the first to call in connection with this difficult situation and offered his assistance.
According to the agency, the interlocutors exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations, and also considered individual regional and international issues of mutual interest.
A powerful explosion thundered on Saturday afternoon in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas. According to media reports, it occurred on the pier as a result of a fuel tank catching fire. About 750 people were injured as a result of the explosion.
