Within the framework of a working visit to the Republic of Türkiye, a meeting was held between the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova and the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmuş. As reported on the website of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the negotiations were held both in a tête-à-tête and in an expanded format.
During the meeting, the importance of the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution “2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust” at the initiative of Turkmenistan was emphasized. The Turkmen side expressed gratitude to the Republic of Türkiye for supporting this initiative.
Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D. Gulmanova expressed confidence that the talks during the visit will contribute to further strengthening of bilateral inter-parliamentary relations. She also noted that Turkmenistan highly values parliamentary relations with Türkiye and is ready for their further development in all areas.
The parties noted the importance of improving the work of the Interparliamentary Friendship Groups, intensifying relations between relevant committees, young and women parliamentarians, as well as holding joint events aimed at organizing meetings and consultations at the parliamentary level.
It was particularly emphasized that parliamentary dialogue has become an important part of deepening cooperation between the two countries, and inter-parliamentary friendship groups created on a bilateral basis expand opportunities for exchanging experience in legislative activity and developing parliamentary diplomacy.
