Political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Austria were held in Ashgabat on Tuesday, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
The Turkmen side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov, and the Austrian side was headed by Deputy Director General for Political Affairs, Director of the Department for the Russian Federation, Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus, Eastern Partnership, Turkey and Central Asia, the Arctic of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria Gerhard Sailler.
The parties emphasized the importance of holding this meeting in the International Year of Peace and Trust, marked by the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality and the 70th anniversary of Austria’s Neutrality.
The high level of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international structures, in particular the UN, OSCE and the EU, was noted. In this regard, the mutual readiness of the countries to continue the practice of mutual support for initiatives in international organizations was confirmed.
During the consultations, priority areas of bilateral relations were discussed, including issues of political and diplomatic dialogue, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian partnership.
In the context of interaction between the foreign ministries, the diplomats touched upon the issues of practical implementation of the Cooperation Program between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Austria for 2024-2025, signed in Vienna last March.
Speaking about the significant potential for increasing cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, the parties confirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation and specified its promising areas.
The interlocutors agreed that cultural and humanitarian ties are an integral part of the Turkmen-Austrian dialogue.
At the end of the political consultations, the importance of continuing the established dialogue was emphasized in order to diversify a fruitful partnership that meets mutual interests.
