Turkmenistan intends to continue cooperation with the international community in the fight against human trafficking

Turkmenistan considers human trafficking as one of the most acute and pressing global problems. The country intends to continue making an effective contribution to international efforts to combat human trafficking, protect and promote human rights. This was stated on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking in Turkmenistan for 2025-2029, approved by the President of Turkmenistan, was prepared by the Interdepartmental Commission on Combating Human Trafficking in Turkmenistan jointly with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The plan Is preventive in nature, contains comprehensive guidelines and prescribes close cooperation with international structures.

The document consists of five sections, which outline target measures, deadlines for their implementation, relevant indicators, and government agencies responsible for the implementation of the designated tasks.

The Plan also provides for the development of cooperation with authoritative international organizations and foreign countries in this area

The state has formed a solid legislative framework for combating human trafficking, which creates a reliable legal basis for systemic activities. The Law of Turkmenistan “On Combating Human Trafficking” defines the organizational and legal framework for combating human trafficking and regulates public relations in this area.

Turkmenistan intends to continue coordinated interaction with the world community in the fight against and prevention of human trafficking, the source notes.
