1. National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Organizing State Committee created to hold events in honor of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Mejlis and members of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Addressing the head of the Mejlis, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty noted the need to develop, together with Deputy Prime Minister Geldimyradov and the Chairman of the Central Bank, a draft of a jubilee medal and a commemorative sign on the occasion of the "International Year of Peace and Trust" and the 30th anniversary of the country's neutrality.

3. Addressing Deputy Prime Minister Atahalliyev, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ordered to prepare proposals related to various goods, dishes, as well as national dishes that decorate festive dastarhans. Deputy Prime Minister Atahalliyev was instructed to open retail outlets in the city of Ashgabat and the velayats, to ensure the sale of high-quality goods in a wide range, including national souvenirs and memorable gifts.

4. In addition, the head of the Halk Maslahaty instructed Deputy Prime Minister Geldimyradov to provide adequate financial support in the context of the upcoming events, and Deputy Prime Minister Amanov was instructed to provide the necessary assistance in solving organizational problems.

5. The National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized the importance of ensuring coverage of international events at the proper level in the media. The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, addressing Deputy Prime Minister Mamedova, who oversees the cultural sphere, instructed to organize cultural and mass festive events at a high level, and Deputy Prime Minister Orazdurdyeva was instructed to prepare relevant proposals for organizing international scientific and practical conferences related to the upcoming events.

6. India intends to actively participate in all celebrations and events within the framework of the "International Year of Peace and Trust". This was stated by the Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat. "At the initiative of Turkmenistan, the United Nations adopted a resolution declaring 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust". India actively supported this initiative, as it is fully consistent with our state policy and ideals. We welcome this decision of the UN and intend to take an active part in all events related to the implementation of this resolution, since India shares the principles of peace and trust," the Ambassador noted at an event organized at the Indian Embassy in Ashgabat on the occasion of the celebration of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.

7. In early January, a meeting was held in Kabul between the Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan Hidayatullah Badri and the CEO of TAPI Pipeline Company Limited Muhammetmurad Amanov. The parties discussed the latest achievements of the TAPI gas pipeline project and issues related to accelerating the remaining work. Particular attention was paid to creating new jobs for Afghans and improving the skills of Afghan engineers involved in the project.

8. Deputy Director of the “All-Russian Research Institute of Ecology” of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources Vadim Petrov named three possible methods for extinguishing the Darvaza gas crater in Turkmenistan, which has been burning continuously for more than half a century. According to Petrov, the first method involves filling the crater with fire-resistant materials, such as sand and clay, to block oxygen access. The second method involves creating a sealed heat-resistant shell over the crater. The third method involves drilling additional wells to reduce gas pressure and redirect its flow. At the same time, the expert notes that the implementation of any of the proposed methods will be technically complex and financially costly.

9. A state of emergency has been declared in the US state of California due to massive wildfires that have engulfed prestigious coastal areas. The elite Palisades area has been particularly hard hit, with the fires spreading to Malibu and the Hollywood Hills. The scale of the disaster is so great that the glow of the fires can be seen even from planes taking off from Los Angeles Airport. Authorities have organized the evacuation of 150 thousand residents. Due to traffic jams on the roads, many have to abandon their cars and flee, and road services are forced to clear the roads with bulldozers.

10. FIFA expert in the Global Football Development Department Rovshen Meredov has taken up the post of Technical Director of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan. Meredov began his playing career in 1999 with the “Nebitchi” team. In subsequent years, he played for the “Dagdan”, “Galkan”, “Ahal” and MTTU clubs. After finishing his playing career, Rovshen Meredov switched to coaching. Under his leadership, Ashgabat MTTU won the AFC President's Cup in 2014. The specialist also led teams in the top divisions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

11. The “Talyp Sport” basketball team of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports won a confident victory in the national championship, without losing a single match. The tournament was held in Ashgabat from December 17 to 22. Six teams took part in the competition. Silver medals were won by the “Milli goshun” team, representing the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan. Bronze medalists were the basketball players of the “Gurlushykchy” team of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan.
