The Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan congratulated the country’s Orthodox Christians on the bright holiday of the Nativity of Christ. “We wish you peace, goodness, love and prosperity!” the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
It is noted that services on the occasion of one of the main Christian holidays – the Nativity of Christ, were held simultaneously in all 12 Orthodox parishes of Turkmenistan.
Orthodoxy has deep historical roots in the territory of modern Turkmenistan – the first Christian dioceses appeared here in the 4th century AD. A particularly revered saint is the martyr John of Merv, who is recognized by the Russian Orthodox Church as the heavenly patron of the country.
