A meeting of the project council was held in the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan with the participation of the Authorized Representative for Human Rights – Ombudsman Yazdursun Gurbannazarova and the representative of the UN Development Program in Turkmenistan Narine Saakyan.
The meeting was also attended by relevant employees of the two organizations, reports “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
The parties assessed the results of the work carried out during the outgoing year within the framework of the project “Strengthening the institutional capacity of the Ombudsman’s Office” and discussed further steps.
Such areas in the implementation of the joint project as interaction with the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions, the Asia-Pacific Forum, strengthening the legal mandate of the Ombudsman in accordance with the Paris Principles, expanding the activities of the Ombudsman’s Office as an independent national human rights institution were considered.
Taking into account the achieved results, specific issues of further cooperation were also discussed, the source notes.
