The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has imposed a large fine on Volkswagen's finance arm for its poor handling of customers struggling to repay their car loans, gazeta.ru reports with reference to Bloomberg.

The fine amounted to 5,4 million pounds sterling. The investigation revealed serious violations in the work with debtors: VW Finance employees demonstrated unprofessionalism during telephone conversations, including mocking clients, and also did not offer possible solutions for debt settlement.

Far from helping customers in difficult financial situations, the FCA's joint chief executive, Teresa Chambers, said the company had made their situation worse by ignoring the needs of people in financial difficulty.
