National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit, TDH reports.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and congratulated him on being awarded the jubilee medal «Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna». He expressed confidence that the visit of the President of Pakistan will be an important step in strengthening bilateral relations, given the huge potential for cooperation.
The head of Pakistan thanked for the hospitality and congratulations, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with Turkmenistan, which, relying on neutrality, pursues a foreign policy in the interests of peace and stability in the region.
At the meeting, it was noted that relations between the countries are based on friendship, brotherhood and equality, and common historical roots and cultural values contribute to their development. Interstate cooperation is successfully developing both in bilateral and multilateral formats, including the UN and other international organizations.
Other important issues on the bilateral agenda were also discussed during the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Asif Ali Zardari wished each other health and happiness, and peace and prosperity to the peoples of the two countries.
