The delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by the head of the Department of Tourism of the Ministry of Culture, is taking part in the annual international forum UN World Tourism Day, which opened on September 27 in Georgia. The event is attended by high-ranking guests from many countries, tourism ministers, representatives of international organizations and tourism professionals. This was stated in a statement by the Embassy of Turkmenistan.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili addressed the audience with welcoming speeches. The main theme of the forum this year is «Tourism and Peace». The event includes discussion panels on global trends in tourism development and the importance of peace for the industry.
The forum participants noted that tourism can play a vital role in strengthening peace and mutual understanding between nations and cultures, as well as in supporting reconciliation processes.
