Apple is expanding its global manufacturing network by starting assembly of the base iPhone 16 model in Brazil. This is the first time that the latest iPhone model has been assembled in the country since its release. Production takes place at the Foxconn plant in Jundiai, São Paulo state, according to official documents. However, the premium Pro models will continue to be made exclusively in China, Ferra.ru reports, citing 9to5mac.
The decision to expand production in Brazil reflects Apple's strategy to reduce its dependence on Chinese manufacturing. Last year, the company began producing the iPhone 15 simultaneously in India and China for the first time.
Now, with the addition of Brazil, Apple will be able to optimize the supply of new iPhones to remote markets.
