Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov met with Matilda Bogner, Regional Representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia. The parties discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN OHCHR, emphasizing the importance of a multifaceted partnership for improving democratic institutions and effectively implementing human rights obligations, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
During the meeting, issues of the activities of the Interdepartmental Commission of Turkmenistan to ensure the fulfillment of international obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law were considered. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the «National Action Plan on Human Rights in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025», «National Action Plan on Gender Equality in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025», «National Action Plan for the Implementation of Children's Rights in Turkmenistan for 2023-2028».
The participants discussed the results of the dialogues within the framework of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the Committee on the Rights of the Child. The importance of systematic work to implement the recommendations received as a result of these dialogues was emphasized.
In addition, the parties expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the UN in the field of human rights education.
