The President of Turkmenistan received the new US Ambassador

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the new US Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Elizabeth Rood. During the ceremony of presenting her credentials, the diplomat conveyed greetings and best wishes from US President Joseph Biden, confirming her country’s interest in strengthening friendly interstate relations, TDH reports.

Having congratulated Elizabeth Rood on her appointment to a high diplomatic post, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished her success in her work to further develop multifaceted Turkmen-American cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties noted with satisfaction the fruitful nature of the interstate dialogue developing in the political and diplomatic sphere. Regular contacts between the relevant departments of the two countries contribute to a constructive exchange of views on current issues on the international agenda, including sustainable development, security and climate change.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan, whose neutral status has been twice recognized by the UN, is pursuing an active foreign policy aimed at strengthening peace and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the regional and global dimensions.

One of the priority areas of bilateral cooperation is the trade and economic sphere. In this context, the contribution of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council to the realization of mutual potential was noted. Large American companies such as Boeing, General Electric, John Deere and Case New Holland have been implementing important joint projects in Turkmenistan for many years. The presence of great prospects for building up mutually beneficial economic partnership was also emphasized.

Cultural and humanitarian ties are also an integral part of Turkmen-American relations. Mutual visits of delegations, holding Culture Days, exhibitions and other events help strengthen these ties. Recently, the cultural and park complex “Magtymguly Pyragy” was opened in Ashgabat, where sculptures of famous foreign literary figures, including the American poet Langston Hughes, were installed.

Elizabeth Rood expressed the honor of representing the United States in Turkmenistan and assured that she would help strengthen the interstate dialogue and take it to a new level. At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed confidence in the further successful development of Turkmen-American relations based on mutual goodwill and mutual understanding.
