An international seminar on artificial intelligence started in Ashgabat

On July 17, a two-day seminar “Artificial intelligence and its impact on freedom of speech” began in the capital of Turkmenistan. The event was organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat with the participation of international experts.

According to the information portal CentralAsia.news, the trainers are specialists from Austria and Bulgaria - Andrey Richter and Ognyan Zlatev.

The seminar program covers a wide range of issues related to the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on the media sphere:

  • Human rights and freedom of speech in the context of AI
  • Media activities in the context of the development of AI technologies
  • Algorithmic content curation
  • Features of the use of AI in the media of developed countries
  • Combating disinformation in the age of artificial intelligence

Opening the seminar, the representative of the OSCE Center in Turkmenistan, William Leaf, emphasized the importance of freedom of speech and the media as integral elements of respect for human rights. According to him, these principles underlie peace, security, trust and sustainable development.

Leaf also expressed gratitude to the government of Turkmenistan and the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their close cooperation and support in organizing current events within the OSCE.

The seminar will last two days and will become a platform for the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of application of artificial intelligence in the modern media environment.
