The President of Kazakhstan appointed a new ambassador to Turkmenistan

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev appointed Nurlan Nogayev Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan. The corresponding decree was published on the official website of the Kazakh leader.

Nurlan Nogayev will replace Askar Tazhibayev in this position, who has been the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan since 2022.

Until mid-May 2024, Nogayev held the position of akim (head of administration) of the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan, as reported by “Vlast”.

56 years old Nurlan Nogayev has extensive work experience. He is a graduate of the I.M. Gubkin Moscow State Academy of Oil and Gas with a degree in “mining engineer”, the Kazakh State Academy of Management with a degree in “economist”, as well as the University of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

Over the years, Nogayev worked as acting director of the national company “KazMunayGas”, deputy and first deputy akim of the West Kazakhstan region. He also headed the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions, and also served as the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan.
