The Turkmenistan national team won 11 medals – 1 gold, 10 bronze – at the Asian Kurash Championship in Tehran. This was reported by the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
About 200 wrestlers from 20 countries took part in the 13th Asian Kurash Wrestling Championship. The Turkmenistan team was represented by 14 athletes under the leadership of the mentors of the women’s and men’s teams – Shirin Kubaeva and Dortkuli Tejenov.
The winner of the highest standard award as part of the Turkmen team was Ayshirin Haydarova. She achieved this success in the weight category up to 48 kg.
Bronze medals in the women’s tournament were awarded to: Rozymengli Meimanova (up to 52 kg), Nurana Hezretova (up to 63 kg), Sabina Kadyrova (up to 78 kg) and Nursoltan Erniyazova (up to 87 kg).
In the men’s tournament, the following climbed to the third step of the podium: Serdar Babamyradov (up to 60 kg), Dovlet Hemrakuliev (up to 66 kg), Mekan Pardabaev (up to 73 kg), Dayanch Omirov (up to 81 kg), Ylham Kemalov (up to 90 kg) and Ishanmyrat Ataev (100 kg).
