1. Over the five months of this year, Turkmenistan has seen stable GDP growth. Deputy Prime Minister H. Geldimyradov reported this on June 7 at a Government meeting, reporting on macroeconomic indicators. Compared to the same period in 2023, the volume of production increased in January–May. Positive production indicators are noted in sectors of the economy. Retail trade turnover increased by 11,1 percent compared to the same period last year.

2. The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Belgium held a poetry reading competition by Magtymguly Fragi, in which local schoolchildren took part. The poems of the great Turkmen poet were performed in English, French and Portuguese. One of the young participants translated a poem by Magtymguly Fragi from English into Portuguese for the first time. Within the framework of this event, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, an exhibition of Turkmen national costumes and jewelry was organized.

3. Today begins a two-day state visit of the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol to Turkmenistan. This visit will be the first state visit by a President of the Republic of Korea to the country in five years since 2019. During the visit of President Yoon Suk-Yeol, fruitful discussions are planned on issues aimed at the development of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea. In particular, it is expected that key and promising areas such as energy and “smart” cities will be considered.

4. Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are considering the possibility of developing a cooperation program between the “Avaza” National Tourist Zone and the Khorezm region. This cooperation program involves organizing mutual trips between the “Avaza” NTZ and Khorezm. The initiative was voiced on the sidelines of the 12th session of the Islamic Conference of Ministers of Tourism of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which ended in Khiva.

5. The Belgian government, led by Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, resigns after losing the European and Belgian Parliament elections on June 9. Following the heavy defeat of his Open VLD party, the Prime Minister will present his resignation to King Philippe of Belgium on June 10. “This is a tough evening for us. We lost. This is not the result we expected, and I personally bear responsibility for this”, - he said.

6. On the eve of the qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup between the national teams of Turkmenistan and Hong Kong, events are planned with the participation of the teams. Today there will be an official press conference of the Turkmenistan national team, after which at 20:00 the team will hold an open training session for media representatives. Guests from Hong Kong will also have the opportunity to speak with the press. All events with the participation of the teams will be held at the Ashgabat stadium, where the match itself will be held on June 11 at 20:00 local time.
