An exhibition of watercolor works by Turkmen artists opened in Ashgabat at the State Museum of Fine Arts. This was reported by the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

The exhibition presents paintings by Nurberda Annakurbanov, Merdan Kakabaev, People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Ovezmuhammed Mamednurov, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Azat Annaev, Larisa Fomina, Yulia Muradova, Nazik Polatova, Makhym Atayeva and others.

“Watercolor educates an artist,” says Nurberdy Annakurbanov. – Any person can be taught to paint with oil, but watercolor loves a calm, balanced artist. Only such a master can produce a clean, transparent and rich picture.

According to Merdan Kakabaev, for him watercolor is enemy No. 1, and in order to defeat the enemy, you need to know him well.

- You can’t make mistakes in watercolors. If you make a mistake, start over again. I am an explosive person by nature, so I have been fighting with watercolors for a long time, and with varying degrees of success. But among my students at the Turkmen State Art School there are three for whom watercolor comes very easily,” the artist admits.

The still lifes of the Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Azat Annayev attract attention with the clear shapes of the objects. To achieve this effect, multiple layers of watercolor and a lot of perseverance are used.

People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Ovezmuhammed Mamednurov presented his watercolors from different years: from the 70s of the last century to the present day.
