On June 7, grain growers of the Ahal, Lebap and Mary velayats of Turkmenistan began the grain harvest in accordance with the schedule approved at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on May 31.
On June 14, farmers from the Balkan and Dashoguz regions will begin harvesting, TDH reports.
According to good tradition, honorary elders blessed the harvest locally, offering prayers to the Almighty for the well-being and prosperity of the country and the entire Turkmen people. Having mowed the first ears of wheat with the words Çäjiňe bereket! (“Have a good harvest!”), the elders gave way to combine operators.
This year, Turkmen grain growers will have to collect 1 million 400 thousand tons of grain from 690 thousand hectares allocated for winter crops, including in Ahal velayat – 400, Mary – 345, Lebap – 310, Dashoguz – 265 and Balkan – 80 thousand tons. Agricultural land was sown with high-yielding varieties of food wheat.
Thanks to large-scale transformations in the country, the efficiency of the agro-industrial complex is growing, issues of engineering and technical support for this sector are being resolved on an innovative basis, equipment of the latest modifications, adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of Turkmenistan, is being purchased.
The harvest season 2024 will involve the use of grain harvesters, modern high-performance equipment, which, working around the clock, will help farmers quickly and without loss to harvest a rich harvest.
Also, during the harvest period, hundreds of mobile repair and mechanical teams will work; proper conditions for work and rest have been created for all participants in the harvest; performances by art masters and mobile retail outlets will be organized.
Transportation facilities and laboratories have been prepared for the new agricultural season, where specialists from the Main State Service of Türkmenstandartlary will determine the quality of incoming grain.
On the occasion of the beginning of the harvest, exhibitions of agricultural products, bakery products, and modern agricultural machinery were organized. Artists and folklore and choreographic groups from the velayats prepared creative gifts for farmers.
In order to successfully solve the tasks outlined in the Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the socio-economic development of the country in 2022–2028 for growing rich harvests of wheat and cotton, economic stimulation of the labor of agricultural producers, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Resolution on increasing government purchase prices for wheat and cotton .
