On June 6, a ceremony was held in Beijing to sign the Agreement on the implementation of the strategic project for the construction of the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway, rzd-partner.ru reports.
The event was attended by the heads of state and government of three countries in the format of video messages.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized in his address that this railway will become the shortest land route connecting China with the region. In the future, this road will allow access through the promising Trans-Afghan corridor to the markets of South Asia and the Middle East.
The implementation of the project will bring significant economic benefits:
Creation of new enterprises and tens of thousands of jobs.
A multiple increase in the volume of mutual trade and the scale of industrial cooperation.
Increasing investment attractiveness and living standards of the population.
The China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway will pass along the route:
Kashgar – Torugart – Makmal – Jalalabad – Andijan.
It is expected that the annual volume of cargo transportation along the new highway will be up to 15 million tons, and the delivery time for goods will be reduced by 7 days.
In addition to the railway itself, a modern transit and logistics infrastructure will be created, including warehouses and terminals.
