The Football Federation of Kazakhstan announced the appointment of a new head coach of the national team. It was Russian specialist Stanislav Cherchesov.

This position was previously held by Magomed Adiyev, who left the post last week, citing family reasons.

Cherchesov, best known for his work with the Russian national team, which he led to the historic quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup, has spent recent years abroad. His last club was Hungarian “Ferencvaros”, with whom he parted company in July last year.

In his career, Cherchesov also coached the Moscow “Spartak” and “Dynamo”, the Grozny “Terek” (now “Akhmat”), as well as the Austrian “Kufstein” and “Wacker” and the Polish “Legia”.

Details of the contract, including its duration, have not yet been disclosed.
