A meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States began today in the Turkmen capital. Representative delegations of the Commonwealth member countries arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the CIS meeting. The venue for the meeting was the capital's “Garagum” hotel.
“As an associated member of the CIS, neutral Turkmenistan demonstrates its commitment to an equal, fruitful dialogue in the Commonwealth space, which meets the priorities of the foreign policy course of the Fatherland, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and now successfully implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. One of the key vectors of this strategy is broad constructive cooperation - both in bilateral and multilateral formats, through authoritative international and regional organizations and structures.
Building relations with the CIS member states and, in general, partnership within the Commonwealth on a solid foundation of friendship and good neighborliness, historical ties, Turkmenistan regularly participates in important meetings and forums in the CIS format, and is also the venue for them. Taking an active position in issues of interstate interaction, our country is taking consistent steps in this direction and putting forward specific initiatives”, - the State News Agency of Turkmenistan statement says.
