In the southern part of the Turkmen capital, at the foot of the Kopetdag mountain system, a grand opening of a monument dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi, an outstanding Turkmen poet, thinker and humanist, was held. The monument became part of a new cultural and park complex that unites 24 statues of world-famous writers and poets from different countries and eras, TDH reports.

The opening ceremony was led by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The festive events began with a bright choreographic number “Friendship of Peoples”, in which artists in national costumes performed a single dance, personifying cultural diversity.

After this, the head of state toured the complex, where majestic statues of such literary geniuses as Honore de Balzac, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Rabindranath Tagore, William Shakespeare, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Dante Alighieri, Sayat-Nova and many others were installed.

The culmination of the celebrations was the opening of the monumental monument to Magtymguly Fragi. A 60-meter sculpture of the poet, personifying his greatness and spiritual power, rises on a 20-meter pedestal, to which a majestic staircase with massive granite bowls leads.

The President of Turkmenistan, members of the government, the diplomatic corps and representatives of international organizations laid flowers at the foot of the monument, paying tribute to the genius of Turkmen literature.

The celebration ended with a grandiose multimedia show: a dynamic light extravaganza painted the monument and mountain ranges in bright colors, and an incredibly beautiful performance took place in the night sky with the participation of hundreds of drones depicting symbols of Turkmenistan and quotes from the works of Magtymguly. The final climax was a large-scale fireworks display, which illuminated the Ashgabat sky with multi-colored flashes for more than 20 minutes.
