The Greek football club “Olympiacos” beat English “Aston Villa” at home with a score of 2:0 in the return match of the Conference League semi-finals and reached the final of the tournament. The meeting was held in Piraeus, writes TASS.
Ayoub El-Kaabi scored the goals (10th and 79th minutes). The first game between the teams was held in Birmingham and ended with a score of 4:2 in favor of “Olympiacos”.
In the final, “Olympiacos” will play with the Italian “Fiorentina”, which, after two matches, defeated the Belgian “Brugge” (3:2, 1:1). The final of the current draw will be held on May 29 in Athens.
“Olympiacos” became the second Greek club to play in the final of a European club competition under the auspices of UEFA. The first Greek team to reach the final of a European Cup was “Panathinaikos”, who played in the final of the European Cup (now the Champions League) in 1971. Then the Athens team lost to the Dutch “Ajax” with a score of 0:2.
