In honor of the fifth anniversary of girls' participation in the movement, the “Boy Scouts of America” has been renamed the “Scouts of America”.

The new name reflects a time of change for the organization, which has welcomed girls and young women into its ranks since 2019.

Today, the movement has more than 176 000 members, 6000 of whom have already been awarded the honorary title of “Outstanding Eagle Scout”. This is reported by daily.afisha.ru with reference to the organization’s press service.

Founded in 1907 by Colonel Robert Baden-Powell and writer Ernest Seton-Thompson, the Scout movement has become part of the lives of more than 130 million people over its 117 years of existence.
