Recently, the President of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) David Haggerty and the President of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) Yuri Polsky arrived in Turkmenistan for a short visit. In an interview with a correspondent of the online publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age,” Yuri Polsky shared his impressions of the trip.

According to Polsky, his expectations from the visit were exceeded. He highly appreciated the tennis infrastructure of Ashgabat, noting that the tennis center in the Olympic village is among the top 5 best in the world. Polsky believes that ATP 500-level tournaments, and possibly Masters series tournaments, can be held here.

An important event was the election of the head of the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan, Eziz Dovletov, to the ATF Board of Directors and his appointment as vice-president for the Central Asian region. Polsky emphasized that this is a significant event, indicating recognition of the achievements of Turkmen tennis.

In addition, the head of the ATF noted the great interest and competence of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the development of tennis in the country. Polsky expressed his readiness to work together to implement ambitious projects, including the opening of a regional tennis training center in Ashgabat, which could become a base for growing the skills of Central Asian players.
