On April 1, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan A. Bayramov took part in a festive iftar dinner organized by the Prime Minister of Japan F. Kishida during the holy month of Ramadan for the heads of diplomatic missions in Tokyo, the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission reported to Turkmenportal.
During the event, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan had a conversation with the Prime Minister of Japan, conveying warm wishes to him on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and inviting F. Kishida to visit Turkmenistan at a time convenient for the Japanese side.
Turkmenistan and Japan are actively developing their relations, which is confirmed by the visits of high-ranking delegations of Turkmenistan to Japan in January-March 2024:
- Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov;
- Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D. Gulmanova;
- Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan B. Gochmollaev.
Following the visits, the Turkmen side held productive meetings with high-ranking representatives of public and private structures in Japan. In the first quarter of 2024, 8 intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents were signed aimed at strengthening Turkmen-Japanese relations in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
On March 27, 2024, the first ever business forum with the participation of small and medium-sized businesses of Turkmenistan and Japan was held in Tokyo. The project of the Turkmen pavilion, scheduled to open in April 2025 at
EXPO 2025 in Osaka, was presented at the forum. The Japanese side highly appreciated the fact that Turkmenistan became the first state to begin construction of its national pavilion at this international exhibition.
