On March 15, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, at which current issues of the socio-economic development of the country were considered, specific plans were outlined for further building up industrial potential, strengthening the material and technical base of various sectors of the national economy, and also discussed upcoming important events in areas of agriculture, finance, energy, industry, parliamentary activities, education, international cooperation and transport.

Announcements of upcoming events

On March 20, cotton sowing will start in the Ahal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary velayats of Turkmenistan, and in the Dashoguz region - on March 27.

On March 27, a business delegation of Turkmenistan will visit Tokyo to participate in the Turkmen-Japanese business forum.

On March 28, Ashgabat will host a media forum “Turkmen land - the center of ancient civilizations” on the occasion of the announcement of the city of Anev as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024 and the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi.

Finance and Economics

“Dayhanbank” in Turkmenistan will introduce the “Remote Banking” payment system for individuals, which is designed to expand the possibilities for non-cash payments for citizens of the country.

Fuel and Energy Complex

In Turkmenistan, industrial inflows of sulfur-free gas have been obtained from drilled development and evaluation wells at the world's largest gas field, “Galkynysh”. The State Concern “Turkmengas” is taking measures to increase natural gas production, including drawing up an action plan to obtain additional volumes of gas in the shortest possible time by drilling new wells and on-ground construction.

Industry and manufacturing

“Ashgabatenergo” and IE “Üznüksiz hyzmat” will create a joint venture Üznüksiz çeşme to establish production of equipment for the accumulation and storage of electricity (UPS) in Turkmenistan. The new enterprise will make it possible to introduce import-substituting production of such equipment and create new jobs.

Transport and logistics

The “Turkmenhowayollary” Agency plans to carry out the next technical maintenance of the equipment of the Ashgabat International Airport in accordance with international standards to ensure flight safety. It was also reported that with the increase in the number of foreign transit passengers, the capital's air harbor is gradually bringing its operations to full capacity.

Activities of Parliament

Deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan held meetings with the leaders and members of the Turkmenistan-Austria and Turkmenistan-Cyprus parliamentary friendship groups, where they discussed the prospects for further cooperation.

In Turkmenistan, with the participation of deputies of the Turkmen parliament, an event was held on the development of a “Memorandum on the rules of foreign trade in Turkmenistan” with the participation of consultants from the Asian Development Bank and employees of the World Trade Organization.

Education

A number of international Olympiads and scientific and practical conferences are planned to be held in higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan:

  • III International Internet Olympiad in English (April 10-11);
  • Olympiads in Macroeconomics and World Economy, Conference on Financial Markets (April-May);
  • Essay competition on international humanitarian law (April 15 - May 1);
  • III Olympiad in Theoretical Mechanics (May 6-11);
  • II Olympiad in descriptive geometry and engineering graphics (May 11);
  • International Olympiad in International Relations for students of Central Asia and the Caspian region (May 22-25);
  • Scientific and practical conference on architecture (June 4-5).

International cooperation

During a working visit to Austria on March 10–13, the Turkmen delegation discussed key issues of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in political, trade, economic, energy, transport, educational and other spheres, specific agreements were reached to intensify relations with Austrian government agencies, business circles and international organizations.
