The creator of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee, is unhappy with the way the Internet is developing. In an open letter published to mark the 35th anniversary of his invention, he said that the influence of technology corporations had become excessive. Snob.ru reports this with reference to Medium.

Berners-Lee believes that the decentralized network he envisioned has become a tool for exploiting users. Companies collect personal data, impose targeted advertising and control access to information. Artificial intelligence only exacerbates these problems.

He called for reform of the system and the creation of a new Internet that will serve the interests of humanity. Berners-Lee is confident that this requires breaking up Internet monopolies and creating conditions for the development of competition.

March 12, 1989 is considered the birthday of the WWW (World Wide Web) system. On this day, Berners-Lee presented a report describing his invention. He is also known for creating the HTML language and other important web developments.
