Heads of OSCE missions discussed regional issues of cooperation in Ashgabat

A regional meeting of the heads of missions of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) of Central Asian countries was held in the capital of Turkmenistan. The key topic of the dialogue was current issues of interaction and activities of regional centers within the three dimensions of the OSCE, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The meeting was held in the building of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat. It was attended by OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova, heads of OSCE field missions of Central Asian countries, employees of regional offices, the OSCE Secretariat, as well as a representative of the OSCE Chairmanship from the Republic of Malta.

Opening the meeting, Bashimova emphasized that Turkmenistan recognizes the important role of the OSCE in addressing common challenges and provides continued support to the Organization’s mission in Ashgabat. She noted the key role of the OSCE in strengthening peace, stability and trust between participating States.

The Deputy Head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry also focused on the fact that Turkmenistan, as a neutral state, advocates dialogue in resolving international conflicts. As an active participant in the OSCE, the country makes efforts to promote its goals and principles, expressing its commitment to constructive cooperation for the benefit of the region.
