President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Helga Schmid, TDH reports.
Having welcomed the distinguished guest, the head of the Turkmen state emphasized the priority of consolidating efforts in the international arena to ensure peace, security and sustainable development. In this regard, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to effective interaction with foreign partners, including the OSCE.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the recent meeting of the OSCE Secretary General with the environmental ministers of Central Asian countries in Ashgabat will give new impetus to a fruitful dialogue in the field of environmental protection.
During the conversation, the comprehensive environmental measures taken in Turkmenistan were especially noted.
The parties confirmed their desire for active interaction in the interests of regional and global security. Neutral Turkmenistan is committed to a close partnership with the OSCE in countering modern challenges.
The energy sector is named as a promising area of cooperation. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov spoke about the advisability of carrying out specific work within the OSCE to bring energy resources to the world market and transit, including political, financial and environmental aspects.
The feasibility of building up partnerships in the transport sector was also noted. Turkmenistan confirmed its readiness to expand interaction with the OSCE in specific areas.
At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors expressed confidence in the further successful development of the traditional partnership between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in the interests of global peace and prosperity.
