The Turkmenistan Wushu Championship, organized by the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports together with the country’s Wushu Federation, was held in Mary. The competition was held in the gym of the Specialized Sports School № 4, reported the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.
Athletes from all velayats and the capital Ashgabat took part in the championship. They included 55 wushu players and 10 coaches from Ashgabat, 14 athletes and 1 mentor from Ahal velayat, 19 participants and 2 coaches from Lebap velayat, 18 fighters and 2 coaches from Dashoguz, as well as 14 athletes and 2 mentors from Mary. The championship was held under the general leadership of the Chairman of the Wushu Federation of Turkmenistan Yalkym Nuryev. The main judge was a national category specialist Tirkish Dovletov from Ashgabat, the competition secretary was a national category judge Mekan Durdyev from Mary.
Following the results of the three-day competition among men, the winners in their weight categories and winners of gold awards were: Musa Yazmuradov (48 kg, Ashgabat), Hemra Halmyradov (52 kg, Ahal velayat), Davut Bekmuradov (56 kg, Ashgabat), Umyt Bekmuradov (60 kg, Ahal velayat), Maksat Handurdyev (65 kg, Ashgabat), Mekan Paltayev (75 kg, Ashgabat). Also winning gold were Muhammet Jumamyradov, Kemal Dovletov (both from Ashgabat), Gaygysyz Atayev (Mary velayat), Dovran Atayev and Babajan Yvadullayev (both from Ashgabat).
In the women's competition, the best results were shown by: Gulalek Hallykova and Reyhan Zasanova (Lebap velayat), Ibimeryem Akmuhammedova and Mahriban Gylychdurdyeva (Ahal velayat), Aylar Nazarova (Mary velayat), Govher Govshudova (Ashgabat).
According to the results of the team championship, the representatives of Ashgabat took first place with 9 gold medals. In second place is the team of Ahal velayat (4 golds), in third place is the team of Lebap velayat (3 golds).
At the closing ceremony, the winners and prize-winners were presented with medals and certificates of honor from the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Physical Education and Sports.
