The International Football Federation (FIFA) has published an updated version of the ranking of national teams. The Turkmenistan national team remained in 141st position.
The current head coach of the Turkmen national team since January 2023 is Mergen Orazov. The national team of Turkmenistan occupied the highest place in the FIFA ranking in April 2004 - 86th place.
Let us note that among the football teams of Central Asian countries, the highest in the ranking is the Iranian team (20), followed by Uzbekistan (66), Tajikistan (99), Kazakhstan (100), Kyrgyzstan (104) and Afghanistan (158).
As previously reported, the Turkmenistan national team will hold a friendly match with the Kazakhstan national team on March 14. The match will be held within the framework of the teams’ training camps in the UAE.
The next official matches of the national team of Turkmenistan will be held in March 2024 - these will be the qualifying games for the 2026 FIFA World Cup against the Iranian team.
On March 21, Mergen Orazov’s team will play away in Tehran, and the return match in Ashgabat will be held on March 26.
