Turkmen weightlifter Anamjan Rustamova won a bronze medal in the snatch in the up to 81 kg weight category at the 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent.
In the snatch exercise, Rustamova lifted 105 kg, losing to the host of the competition, Rigina Adashbaeva from Uzbekistan (107 kg) and Korean Kim Soohyun (110 kg). Unfortunately, Anamjan was unable to complete a single successful attempt in the clean and jerk, which deprived her of the chance to compete for medals in the combined event.
The Asian Championship started in Tashkent on February 3 and will last until February 10. 239 athletes from 34 countries of the continent take part in the competition.
In addition to medals in ten weight categories for men and women, Asian weightlifting leaders are vying for ranking points that will help them qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
