Gaygysyz Torayev became the silver medalist of the Youth World Weightlifting Championship

Turkmen athlete Gaygysyz Torayev won a silver medal at the Youth World Weightlifting Championships in Mexico with a result of 335 kg in the combined event.

In the snatch, Torayev held a barbell weighing 151 kg over his head and became a small silver medalist, and in the clean and jerk he won a small silver medal with a result of 184 kg.

The victory in the weight category up to 81 kg, in which 18 weightlifters fought, was won by the Kazakh athlete Edige Emberdi, who was ahead of Torayev in the double-event total by only 1 kg - (336 kg; 145 + 191). Saba Asanidze from Georgia closed the top three – (333; 149 + 184).

Turkmenistan is represented by 6 athletes at this tournament. Earlier, Perhat Bagtiyarov (9th place) took the stage in the men's weight category up to 67 kg, and Gulalek Kakamyradova (18th place) in the women's weight category up to 64 kg.

The Youth World Weightlifting Championships will end in Guadalajara (Mexico) on November 23. In the remaining days of the competition, Anamjan Rustamova (up to 81), Resul Rejepov (up to 89 kg) and Shahzadbek Matyakubov (up to 96 kg) will take to the stage as part of the Turkmen team.
