Results of the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on November 17

On November 17, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, at which preparations for international conferences and forums on sustainable development of transport, trade and economic cooperation and other sectors were discussed.

The active participation of Turkmenistan in upcoming international events on climate change was also considered. In addition, the country continues to implement large infrastructure projects, improve the education system, as well as the harvesting campaign of agricultural crops.

Announcements of upcoming events

On November 26, Turkmenistan will host the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Sustainable Transport – Contribution to Sustainable Development” and an exhibition on the occasion of the adoption of the Resolution “World Sustainable Transport Day”.

On November 26, Ashgabat will host the first meeting of representatives of the Joint Turkmen-Kazakh Working Commission on transport and transit transportation and logistics.

On November 28-30, the International Exhibition Agro-Pak Türkmenistan - 2023 will be held in Ashgabat. Companies engaged in the production of packaging and food products, and agriculture will take part in it. Within the framework of the review, bilateral meetings will be organized to exchange experiences and establish cooperation.

On November 27–28, Ashgabat will host a meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani Commission and a business forum. It is expected that companies from various industries will participate, including oil and gas, textiles, agriculture, construction, pharmaceuticals, transport, IT, etc.

From November 30 to December 12, the delegation of Turkmenistan will take part in the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-28) in Dubai (UAE).

On November 26-28, the delegation of Turkmenistan will take part in the Youth Conference on Climate Change (COY-18) in Dubai.

Construction

The new “Guneshli” Center for Children and Youth planned for construction in Ashgabat will have playgrounds and sports grounds, specially designated areas for cultural events, training in traffic rules, an amphitheater and a number of other facilities, including technical and economic purposes. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to properly conduct an international tender for the construction of the facility.

Finance

In Turkmenistan, draft documents are being prepared on the organization of licensing activities of banking institutions related to precious metals and stones. Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported about this at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Education

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Resolution on approval of the structure and procedure for admission to study at the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan. The document was prepared taking into account proposals from relevant ministries to improve educational and administrative activities, based on the conditions created in the new complex of Academy buildings.

25 Turkmen students successfully performed at the International Team Olympiad in Mathematics in Poland, winning 8 gold, 11 silver and 6 bronze medals.

Universities of Turkmenistan will hold a number of student international Internet Olympiads, including in ecology, biology, engineering and computer graphics, Russian language and physics. In the third decade of March 2024, it is planned to organize an in-person International Mathematical Olympiad among school students in the Specialized Educational Complex № 1 of the city of Arkadag.

The international cooperation

Turkmenistan was unanimously elected as a member of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee on Physical Culture and Sports (CIGEPS) for 2023–2027.

Turkmenistan is preparing to participate in the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-28), which will be held from November 30 to December 12 this year in Dubai. In particular, Ashgabat will study and analyze the international documents planned for signing at COP-28 in order to consider joining them.

Agriculture

In Dashoguz and Lebap velayats of Turkmenistan, 72 thousand 246 tons of rice were harvested. Cotton harvesting continues across the country. In Mary velayat, sugar beets are being harvested and storage and processing of the resulting crop is underway.
