The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to prepare a Roadmap for the development of cooperation in the energy sector between member countries of the Organization of Turkic States, speaking at the OTS summit in Astana, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
“In general, we consider it appropriate to prepare a Roadmap for the development of cooperation in the energy sector among member countries of the Organization of Turkic States to intensify and legally consolidate ongoing joint activities”, - said the head of the highest body of people’s power of Turkmenistan.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized that having rich oil and gas reserves, Turkmenistan pursues a policy of reliable and safe export of energy resources to world markets. In particular, natural gas and electricity are supplied to neighboring states and countries in the region.
As an example, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty noted that Turkmenistan currently exports natural gas to neighboring countries - Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. Thus, Ashgabat acts as a reliable supplier of energy resources in the region.
“At the same time, there are opportunities to transport Turkmen natural gas through the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and in the future bring it to world markets. I am confident that in the very near future, together with our fraternal countries, all necessary issues will be resolved and relevant work will be carried out”, - said the head of the highest body of people’s power of Turkmenistan.
Speaking about the electricity sector, National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan is already exporting electricity to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. In addition, in the future it will be possible to supply electricity through the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
