On November 2, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. Important resolutions were signed there, upcoming events and events in various areas of the economy and international cooperation were announced. Particular attention is paid to expanding the production capacity of industrial enterprises, as well as strengthening the position of Turkmenistan in the international arena.

Documents signed by the head of state

Resolution on the creation of three research institutes of the Ministry of Agriculture for grain growing, agriculture and cotton growing. They should be created by dividing the research and production center of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute. The Ministry of Agriculture was ordered to prepare Charters for new institutions.

A resolution aimed at the timely provision of auxiliary materials, chemicals and spare parts to structural units of the fuel and energy sector.

Announcements of upcoming events

On November 3, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will make a working visit to Kazakhstan to participate in the 10th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Astana. The event is expected to discuss the issue of Turkmenistan joining the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkic States. Within the framework of the visit, a meeting is planned with the head of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

On November 8-9, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov will make a working visit to Uzbekistan to participate in the 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Tashkent.

On November 20, a Turkmen-German business forum will be held in Berlin.

On November 22-23, the investment forum “Turkmenistan – Investment and Development” will be held in London.

On November 9-10, Ashgabat will host the XVI International Exhibition of Telecommunications, Telemetry, Information Technologies and Broadcasting Equipment “Türkmentel-2023” and a scientific conference.

On November 14-16, the IV International Festival “Theatrical Art of the Happy Era” will be held in Ashgabat. Representatives of theaters from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tatarstan (RF) and Uzbekistan will take part in it. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the Main Academic Drama Theater of Turkmenistan. Performances will be shown in the capital and the city of Arkadag.

On November 16-18, the Youth Forum of Central Asian Countries and China will be held in Mary. It is expected that young professionals, students and volunteers from Turkmenistan, as well as young people from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will take part in it. The event will discuss partnerships in the fields of climate change, education, science and innovation, culture and art. A Festival of cultural and artistic figures from Central Asia and China is also expected to be held.

Economy

JSCB “Halkbank” has developed “Digital Card” software for mobile phones. With its help, a contactless payment service using NFC and QR code technologies will be introduced in Turkmenistan. Thus, it will be possible to pay for goods and services using almost any smartphone.

The Turkmen-German business forum in Berlin and the investment forum “Turkmenistan – Investment and Development” in London announced above will be dedicated to the country’s projects to expand infrastructure in the IT, transport and telecommunications sectors. They will also consider the prospects for expanding cooperation in the oil and gas, chemical industries, banking and insurance sectors.

Industry

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed Deputy Prime Minister for Industry Baymyrat Annamammedov to ensure the operation of chemical industry enterprises at full capacity, as well as to work on the issue of reconstructing the first ammonia production facility of the “Maryazot” Production Association.

The international cooperation

On World Cities Day, it was announced that Ashgabat was included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the “Design” category. This status was assigned to the Turkmen capital in connection with its development in accordance with modern international urban trends.

Agriculture

Farmers of Turkmenistan have successfully completed the plan for sowing wheat, sowing 690 hectares of land for the 2024 harvest.
