On the night of September 28, an explosion occurred in Tashkent, after which a fire started in one of the industrial warehouses in the Sergeli district of the city. According to preliminary data, the cause of the incident was a lightning strike, reports TASS with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan.
It is noted that one teenager died as a result of the incident. The total number of victims as a result of the incident is 163 people.
According to the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, 24 people were hospitalized, the rest were treated on the spot.
“By now, the fire has been completely extinguished, cleanup of the surrounding area continues”, - said a representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. According to preliminary data, the fire area was 15 thousand square meters.
210 units of equipment and more than 2 thousand personnel from the fire department and other structures of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as law enforcement agencies, were involved in extinguishing the fire.
